  • Dr. Phil Christopher
    Senior Pastor

    Senior Pastor Phil has been Senior Pastor of First Baptist since March, 1995. In addition to his many pastoral responsibilities, he is also actively involved in the civic life and leadership of Abilene. Phil has previously pastored churches in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kentucky. While pastoring in Kentucky, he taught at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Phil holds a BA degree from Baylor University, a Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Brite Divinity School of TCU. Phil and Mary, his wife, have two children: Jeremy and his wife, Caroline, and Natalie and her husband Andrew Abrameit.

  • Mike Greenfield
    Pastor for Administration & Spiritual Development

    Mike joined the staff in 1996 as Pastor for Young and Median Adults and then in 2004 moved into the administration role. In addition, Mike oversees technology in the church, including the website, all print publications,and digital publicity.

     
    Prior to joining the staff in 1996, Mike served in Baptist student ministries at San Jacinto College, Texas Wesleyan College, and Baylor University. A native of Snyder, Mike is a graduate of both Texas Tech University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Patti, are the parents of three children, Katie and her husband, Luke Palmer and son Liam, Blake and his wife, Sarah, and Brett.
  • John Moore
    Pastor for Missions

    John came to First Baptist at the beginning of 2008 to begin his work as Pastor for Missions. John was raised in the Houston area before attending  Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He served as a youth pastor in Lorena, Texas, and for 13 years at Williams Trace Baptist Church in Sugar Land, Texas.

     
    John and his wife, Beverly, have three children Marshall, Collin, and Nathan.
  • Todd Wilson
    Pastor for Worship & Music

    Todd is a native Texan and the son of a Baptist pastor.  He graduated from Alamogordo (NM) High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri in 1982.  He completed a Master of Music degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1985.

     

    Todd met his wife, Michele, while a student at William Jewell.  She was also a music education major.  Todd and Michele have two children:  daughter, Mackenzie, and son, Landon.  Todd was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 1985.  He lists his interests as being coaching, golf, and computers.

     

    Before coming to Abilene, Todd served at First Baptist Church, Henderson, Texas, for over six years and has served full-time as Minister of Music in the following churches:  First Baptist Church, White Settlement; First Baptist Church, Grapevine; and First Baptist Church, San Marcos.  He also served as Music Assistant at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler.  Todd is a member of the Centurymen and the Singing Men of Texas.
  • C.V. Blake
    Pastor for Adults
    C.V. came to Abilene as Pastor for Youth in 1999 where he served in that position before he moved into the Young and Median Adult position in 2004.  He gives leadership to all adults between the ages of 20-60, both married and single.  He also works with the Men's Ministry and coordinates the small group Bible studies for men. 

     

    Before coming to Abilene in 1999, C.V. served in similar ministry positions in Bryan, Lubbock, Shallowater, Slaton, and O'Donnell. C.V. is a graduate of Texas Tech University. He and his wife, Shelly, have two children, Bryan who lives and works in the Dallas area and his wife Marlow, and Lauren and her husband Reed Stafford and their two children, Jack and Brynn.

  • Cody Favor
    Pastor for Students
    Cody serves as Pastor for Students and ministers to students from 6th grade to 12th grade.  He has been on staff at FBC since 2005 in a variety of positions.

        
    He is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education with a Minor in Psychology and a Master of Divinity from Logsdon School of Theology.  During his college days, he served as both youth intern and interim youth minister at First Baptist Church in Littlefield, Texas.  Upon graduation from college he moved to Muleshoe where he served as youth minister for four years.  While working on his Master’s degree, Cody served as interim youth minister here at First Baptist, and then moved into the university role.  He spent two years here as a part of a residency program through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, which concluded in the summer of 2007 when he continued on in his present position.  Cody is married to Brennan, who works for Goodwill Industries, Inc.  They are the proud parents of a daughter, Micah.

  • Candy Rains
    Pastor for Preschool
    Candy started at FBC working in the missions office and moved into the preschool role in the spring 2011.  Prior to this position, she has worked for many years as a volunteer in church work specifically with children.

     

    Candy graduated from Wylie High School and was an active member of Lytle South Baptist Church for 14 years.  She is married to Eddie Rains, an independent agent in automotive training and consulting.  They have three children: Kristian and her husband, Marcus, Morgan, and Chance.

  • Keith Post
    Pastor for Recreation & Senior Adults
    Keith Post has served in a variety of ministries and positions. He was an Athletic Specialist for the city of McKinney Parks and Recreation Division. Prior to working for the city of McKinney, he has coached and taught high school in Princeton, Texas; served as the Recreation Minister at FBC, McKinney for 10 years; pastored churches in Childress and Loraine; and as youth minister in four different churches in Texas and Arkansas. Keith has a wide background in ministry and recreation and brings a wealth of experience to the position.

     

    In the fall of 2016, Keith added the Senior Adult Ministry to his job responsibilities. Keith graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a degree in Christian Studies, with an emphasis on recreation. 

  • Becky Tucker
    Pastor for Children

    Becky Tucker joined the staff in the fall of 2011 to lead the children's ministries.  A graduate of Hardin-Simmons University with a BBS in recreation, Becky taught in the public school system for 20 years here in Abilene at Jane Long and Thomas Elementary schools. Becky brings a wealth of experience and a deep love for children to this position.  She and her husband, Gary, a computer technology consultant and a member of our television ministry at FBC, have two children, Clayton and Britney.

  • Meredith Stone
    Interim Pastor for Emerging Adults

    Meredith started serving as the Interim Pastor for Emerging Adults in June of 2017.  While not helping at the church, she is the director of ministry guidance and instructor of Christian ministry and scripture, joined the faculty of Logsdon School of Theology in the fall of 2014. The Ministry Guidance Office coordinates scholarships and grants for ministerial students and offers assistance in call clarification and ministry placement for students and alumni.

    She received both her Bachelor of Arts (Bible) and Master of Arts (Religion) degrees at Hardin-Simmons. She also earned her PhD in Biblical Interpretation through Brite Divinity School of Texas Christian University.

    Before joining the Logsdon faculty, she has served as Women in Ministry Specialist for Texas Baptists (BGCT), Teaching Pastor at Crosspoint Fellowship, and Coordinator of Admissions for Logsdon Seminary.

    She enjoys spending time with her family, golf, music, and being involved at First Baptist Church in Abilene. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Baptist Standard, and on the Baptist World Alliance's Commission for Christian Ethics. She is married to James Stone who also works at HSU as Special Assistant to the President, and they have two daughters.

  • Maura Dela Cruz
    Associate Director for City Light

    Maura began serving here at First Baptist in January 2001.  She wears many hats at City Light Community Ministries as she helps to keep the building running smoothly, counsels people who need assistance, and answers a thousand questions a week.  Maura is originally from the Philippines and has a degree in accounting from Polytechnic University of the Philippines.  She loves reading, walking in the park, watching TV and visiting with people.

  • Jeanne Jowers
    Church Accountant

    Jeanne has been serving the church as the accountant since 1992.  Jeanne is a Certified Public Accountant and her husband, Charlie, is a semi-retired pharmacist.  They have three grown children.

  • Eric Couvion
    Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds

    Eric has been with FBC since August 1999. He first worked at the Family Life Center before taking his current position.  He brings a wealth of information from his past military service and keeps the church running smoothly.  He and his wife, Stacey, have three children and one grandchild.
